What Are The Actual Benefits of CBD?
Does it get you’ high’? Is it safe to use?
How can I take it?
We hope to answer some of those questions and dispel some myths with our down to earth guides, but first, we need to understand, in plain English, what CBD actually is.CBD stands for Cannabidiol and is a chemical compound that is found in the Cannabis sativa plants. The other compound found in this plant is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) which is the compound which gives the feeling of relaxation and euphoria, or ‘high’.
The Cannabis Sativa plant variety has two main species that we are familiar with Hemp and Marijuana. Both of these varieties contain CBD, but Hemp includes a much higher level of CBD and low levels of THC compared to marijuana which has higher levels of THC and lower levels of CBD.
The compounds are extracted from the green parts of the plant (leaves and stems) and must be obtained in the plant’s raw state.
The extraction process most commonly used is CO2 extraction, and this involves extracting the CBD from the plant under high pressure in a specially designed extractor. This is costly to the producer but also provides a premium and safer product. After extraction, Buy CBD Oil must be refined and purified to create either a full spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, or a CBD isolate.
So what is Hemp oil?
You will also sometimes come across references to ‘Hemp oil for pain’. This is an oil extracted from hemp seeds (not the leaves, stalk and stem of the plant) and is used in healthcare and beauty products due to its very high levels of fatty acids and antioxidants. It is also worth noting that Hemp seed oil has little or no CBD content.
So that’s the basics but if you have any more questions on this remarkable supplement, check out our FAQ’s or articles on CBD.
